The final inland stage of the Burren Way descends from the high karst country around Carran through the limestone hills to Corofin, on the edge of the Clare lakelands, passing close to the great stone fort of Cahercommaun perched on its cliff.
Green roads and quiet lanes carry the route through a quieter, greener Burren than the coastal stretches, rich in ring forts and church ruins. Corofin's pubs and the nearby Burren National Park information point round off the journey well.
