The gardens at Powerscourt Estate near Enniskerry sweep down from the Palladian house towards the Great Sugar Loaf in a grand cascade of terraces, statuary and specimen trees — a composition regularly ranked among the world's top gardens.
A relaxed walking circuit takes in the Italian and Japanese gardens, the Pepperpot Tower, Triton Lake and the beautiful Pets' Cemetery. Paths are well-surfaced with some steps and gentle slopes; admission fees apply, and the terrace café makes a fine finish.
