The White Route at Glendalough — the Spinc circuit — is arguably the most popular mountain walk in Ireland, and with reason. From the Upper Lake the route climbs beside the Poulanass waterfall onto the Spinc ridge, where a boardwalk runs along the cliff edge with breathtaking views down the length of the glacial valley.
The circuit descends past the old miners' village at the head of the valley before returning along the lakeshore. Expect steps and steady climbs, and crowds on fine weekends — early starts are richly rewarded.
