From the Crone Wood car park this deservedly popular loop climbs through forest onto the open shoulder of Maulin (570m), passing the celebrated viewpoint high above Powerscourt Waterfall, Ireland's highest, framed by the Glensoulan valley and Djouce.
The circuit descends by the Wicklow Way with views over the Dargle valley to the Sugar Loaf. Tracks and paths are good throughout, with one steady mountain climb — a perfect introduction to Wicklow hillwalking.
