Glengarra Wood shelters in the southern foothills of the Galtee Mountains near Cahir, its trails winding along the Burncourt River beneath a remarkable collection of mature specimen trees — including giant redwoods planted in the 19th century by the Earls of Kingston.
The Millennium Trail loop climbs gently through mixed woodland with picnic spots by the river, and links to longer routes towards the open Galtees for those wanting more. Good forest tracks make it suitable for most walkers year-round.
