Galtymore (917m) is Ireland's highest inland summit and one of the country's fourteen 900m peaks. This loop climbs from the Black Road onto the broad ridge of the Galtees, crossing Galtybeg before the final pull to Galtymore's summit cross and trig pillar.
The northern face of the range falls away in dramatic cliffs above a chain of corrie lakes — Lough Curra, Lough Diheen and Borheen Lough — which the ridge walk overlooks. Underfoot expect peaty, occasionally boggy ground; in clear weather the views span from the Comeraghs to the Shannon Estuary.
