Barrclashcame (772m) crowns the western end of the Sheeffry Hills, a wonderfully quiet ridge between Doolough and the Erriff valley in south Mayo. The climb from the Sheeffry Pass side is steep and pathless, over grassy, rocky slopes that relent only at the broad summit ridge.
Few walkers come here, and the reward is one of Mayo's great viewpoints: Mweelrea and the Doolough valley to the west, Croagh Patrick to the north, and the Atlantic beyond. Experience with rough, trackless terrain is essential.
