This stretch of the Grand Canal between Hazelhatch and Sallins is among the prettiest on the whole canal, the towpath running beneath mature trees past moored barges, locks and the impressive Leinster Aqueduct, which carries the canal over the River Liffey near Sallins.
The walking is dead flat on towpath and greenway surfaces, easy to follow throughout. Both ends are served by rail, making this one of the easiest linear walks near Dublin to do by public transport.
