Slieve Binnian (747m) carries the most distinctive summit in the Mournes — a crown of huge granite tors that give the mountain its jagged profile. This loop from Carrick Little climbs beside the Mourne Wall to the summit tors, then follows the ridge north past the Back Castles before descending by the Blue Lough and Annalong Wood.
The views are the finest in the range: Silent Valley and Ben Crom reservoirs below, Slieve Donard across the valley, and the sea at Annalong. A mountain day of real character, with rough, rocky going around the tors.
