Errigal's silver quartzite cone is the unmistakable high point of Donegal at 751m. This route adds the neighbouring peak of Mackoght ('Little Errigal') to make a satisfying loop, approaching Errigal's classic east ridge from the col between the two mountains.
The final ridge to Errigal's twin summits is airy but straightforward in good conditions, with mighty views over the Poisoned Glen, Dunlewey Lough and the whole of northwest Donegal. Scree and loose rock demand care on the descent.
