Find Car ParkBlackstairs Mountain (735m) forms the southern high point of the range that shares its name, across the Scullogue Gap from Mount Leinster. The route climbs directly up the broad ridge from the gap, over heathery slopes strewn with granite boulders.
The ridge walking is open and airy, with views across the patchwork farmland of Carlow and Wexford and south to the sea. Paths are informal and the ground rough in places, but the line is straightforward in clear weather.
