The Loughcrew Cairns — Sliabh na Caillí, the Hill of the Witch — crown a chain of hills in north Meath and comprise one of Ireland's four great passage tomb cemeteries, older than Newgrange. The short, steep path climbs to Cairn T on the summit, aligned to the equinox sunrise.
The summit is the highest point in Meath, and the view over the lakelands of Meath, Westmeath and Cavan is extraordinary for so modest a climb. The Hag's Chair, a massive kerbstone throne, is a highlight of the summit cairn.
