Dursey Island Loop

Dursey Island lies off the very tip of the Beara Peninsula and is reached by Ireland's only cable car, swinging above the tidal race of Dursey Sound. The island loop follows the Beara Way along the spine of the island to the old signal tower and Dursey Head, returning by the same ridge.

With no shops, pubs or cafés on the island, bring everything you need — and check cable car times carefully to be sure of your return. In summer, keep an eye seaward for whales, dolphins and huge seabird passage off the headland.
